The growing season in 2003
was warmer than usual resulting in riper fruit with increased color
extraction and tannins. Our 2003 Merlot is a beautifully balanced wine
with nice structure and oak qualities that truly captures your attention
from the first sip. This wine opens with aromas of ripe cherries and
cocoa beans along with delicate floral scents of violets and lilacs. The
mouthfeel is almost juicy with boysenberries, blackberries and red
currants followed by hints of dark chocolate and cinnamon. The finish is
long and lush with integrated tannins, which allow for extended
cellaring time.
The best part of our 2003 Merlot is enjoying it with your favorite
hearty dish. Try it with beef and barley soup, pot roast and assorted
grilled vegetables or a steak with blue cheese crumble. Add a salad and
crusty bread and at least one bottle of Forgeron Cellars 2003 Merlot,
two would be even better. |
